ASB loan

to those of you who already had ASB loan from local banks, just carry on. this is just a friendly advice for my friends who have not done so.

ASB is incorporated by PNB as BUMIPUTERA ONLY trust fund, as an incentive to encourage saving habits to bumis and enculcate investment without exposing them to unnecessary risks.

however, most of malays are lacking the fund to join ASB to reap its full benefit. average return per year is around 7% lately.

this is where banks giving away loans for this fund.

i read through the internet, and i reached to a conclusion that taking loans for asb is not a smart method of investment.

unless you cannot discipline yourself in saving your money.

banks saw this as an opportunity to gain money without exposing themselves to unnecessary risks. offering at BLR -1.25% (actual rate of some bank) this seems attractive. i, however, see this just as another alibaba license. banks dont have to be a malay to invest in asb, rather, they used their customer's name in obtaining asb certs.

and during bad times, BLR can go as high as 12%. instead of you getting the dividend, you are paying the banks for nothing! i know this is the worst case scenario, but no one can predict the future.

it's better you save your money little by little. you will have full control of your finances and who knows, maybe you need extra funds in emergency?

unless you cannot discipline yourself and need to be forced to pay monthly loan, don't take ASB loan because it's just a way banks make free profits with minimal risk.

i hate it when i thought of working for the bank for free. i expect them to pay me, not the other way around.

i know the loan means you have a leverage for your money in the long run. however the return is too small <10% making it unattractive, at all. only make loans where you can be confident that the spread is more than 10%.

so sampailah sekolah menengah cita-cita aku macam tu. and i deserve having such a high ambition, because i was in an "elite school" lah kononnya. ahahah. talking about produk gagal :b

after school, i have a few choices, go straight into MAS or SIA cadetship. I wouldn't remember if MARA was sponsoring pilot students back then (2004) and i just knew they did in 2007.

however, to go to SIA cadetship, you need to have a bachelor's degree, which didn't have, so i was left with two choices: do my degree first or directly go into MAS cadetship.

and i did not pick he latter. you know why? SIA's fleet are mostly widebody, and cater for long haul journey, so when you first enter SIA as second/first officer, chances are, you will be assigned to any widebody aircraft, unlike MAS, where you will be assigned to a 737 or fokker 50 first (both are 'small' aircraft).

plus, having a degree AND a flying license will give you an edge over someone who doesn't, right? don't argue my shallow statement, but MOST of us will think that it's cooler to have both, isn't it? =b

and luckily for me, at that time, this *ehem* company is offering me a place to pursue an engineering degree in its private university. i said to myself "this is an opportunity!". i will finish my degree first, then go to SIA!

apparently, that's not the case for me. 2009 was the suwey year for me. first, SIA stopped taking Malaysian cadets. second, MAS stopped its cadetship programme. third, MARA also rumoured to sponsor the last batch of pilot cadets in May 2009. fourth, i had a tumor as big as my fist inside my guts. fifth, i was dumped by my girlfriend. oh, lari topik plak lol.

and now, to pursue my ambition would be an uphill task. where can i find 275k to pay for the course? sure, banks can give out loans, but where can i find collateral for the loans?

and if i did manage to find the money, would i pass the Class I Medical Examination to qualify for the course with this 'thing' inside my perut?

sekarang? redha sajalah. mungkin itu bukan yang terbaik untukku. mana tau kalau bawak nanti, eksiden, mati ramai2. bek aku tayah bawak. tak apelah, jadik construction man pun takdelah susah sangat. berbakti kat negara jugak. buat landasan ketapi letrik tuh. bangga seh. hins.

welcome2. i will guide you step by step. dont worry. this will be the latest info as of february 2009.

lets skip the craps and begin.

1st step: Get an Approval letter from DCA

what is DCA? its short for "department of civil aviation". jabatan penerbangan awam or something like that.

send them a letter stating that you're interested in enrolling for CPL/IR (frozen ATPL) course in any certified flying school in Malaysia.

better still, go there and ask for the form.

bring along certified true copy of your IC AND SPM results (if you do this by mail, include both of these into your mail)

be patient as this will take, at most, a week to be processed. dont worry, as DCA will send you the approval letter through mail.

i want to stress on this - DO CALL THEM PLEASE!

i know there are forums dedicated to flying, eg http://forum.flydamnit.com/ but there's no other way to get the facts straight than to get them from the flying schools themselves.

you'll be surprised how happy they are to entertain your questions.

*hint - call the hq on matters pertaining intakes and financing. if you call the school directly, they will probably direct you to the hq anyway.

ask for these particulars (with no orderly manner)

- Deposit

- reg fees

- overall fees (including hostels and meals)

- additional fees (textbooks, headgears, uniforms)

- Surcharge for fuel (like airplane tickets, they really follow current fuel prices)

- extra fees for extension?- financing? MARA? Agrobank?

- next vacant intake and its frequency of intakes (typically around 6-10 intakes per year)

i would like to recommend apft and ggifa. both are new and intakes are not as much as other schools. and at the end of your studies, you will have cpl/ir (frozen atpl) AND a diploma in Aviation Management. cool. one honours degree, one diploma and a flying license! nothing is cooler than that! luls!

btw, ggifa used to be the cheapest, rm190++k but now, latest info, it'll cost you around rm275k (including hostel and meals). and they havent updated their website yet, so beware yer. too bad! i was considering this school dulu :( nak belajar kat sarawak! luls.

and some flying school accept online application, too ie apft.

ladies and gentleman. the moment of truth. the important step:

3rd step: dipping your both feet into the water (committing)

if you have done all of the things above, please take note that, if you would like to take MARA loan, typically you'll be ready to start your lesson within less than 6 months, depending on your loan provider.

one big tips - AVOID APPLYING MARA AFTER SPM RESULTS ARE BEING ANNOUNCED. try applying before spm results (not applicable to spm leavers). why? you will be competing with thousands of spm candidates who apply for MARA and their office will probably congested with forms.

anyhow, back to the guide.

basically there are a few steps involved:

1. apply for school

2. apply for loan (MARA and bank loan) using letter of acceptance issued by the school

3. pay the deposit - amounting up to rm15k (letter of placement issued by school) - this is what the bank loan is for

4. start flying! (er ground training first! be patient aa =)

the not-so-happy-new-year for me

when asked about my new year, i dont have much to comment. to be honest, i dont really celebrate any new year - at all. I dont even watch the countdown. Why? honestly, i dont see the point of celebrating another day in a year. It just mark the beginning of a new calendar. nothing significant anyway. and all those firework displays? concerts? entertainment overload? waste of time and money. those celebrations are just for brats who dont know where else to throw away their parent's money.

sorry for the harsh statement. it's been a bad day for me.

first, the lcd display of the latop i borrowed from my friend blacked out. turns out it has some problem with its backlight.

then ive got this bad flu. i slept the whole day in the new year! just woke up. still dizzy and suffering from running nose till now.

then the usb ports on my desktop are behaving crazily. which means nothing can be connected to my desktop pc. except for the mouse. darn

on a positive note, today is the first day of my celcom broadband postpaid subscription. so you'll be seeing me update this blog frequently. that is, if im not busy and in the mood of writing :)

each day this blog is becoming like my personal diary, instead of the place where i put my thoughts. i think im going to change my tone a bit in my next posts. maybe post about sports, politics etc.

the hard truth

it sucks when you learnt about the hard truth. that when you think you are doing the best that you can, but the fact is, its not enough. when you know that your competition is from the most unexpected of all people. when you think you are the only one, but there will always be another guy doing better.

and when you know it at the time you don't expect it.

this is what happen when you know your beloved one contacted her ex, while not telling you at all. and knowing that he's doing very well. and better than you. the fact that this guy is getting married is not soothing at all. bravo, i never knew you and would never want to know you, but yet you really can make my life miserable.

and now it all really makes sense. that explains why suddenly the change of attitude. suddenly getting mad for asking when and where she's going. the 'i want to be single cus single rawks' attitude. the 'im independent so dont ask where the eff im going' replies that you get.

it sucks.

it sucks when you've felt that you have done everything to make her your girl, but nothing can satisfy her. money is never enough. love? bleargh. care? ew. appearance? not a bit. there will always be someone better than you.

Who am I in utp?im no one.im just a final year student waiting for a few more weeks to finish my studies and go out into the working world.am I just going to be just another undergraduate from utp?does my existence here gives no impact to others?

Well,I guess so.

As for now I want to talk about network in utp.am I qualified to talk about it?lets see who am I really.

Currently im the maintainer and owner of v5 dc++ hub.I am also the fifth admin and the second root admin of kampung5.I prepared and maintained the k5 imagehosting,which is used extensively by cameraphiles in utp.I am also the owner of the temp irc network,when soul.utpchat.net isn't available.

Still not enough?I provide fedora and ubuntu software repository for village5.active member of UTPOSSA,but not anymore since im busy with everything else.

Ok.done with that.that is my history.kinda boring isn't it?im going to graduate anyway.

Im not going to blabber much about myself.I want to talk about OUR network.yes u heard me.OUR very own utp network.

I've been here since 2004.my first encounter of student network services is with utpchat.net.there used to be one single server connecting users throughout v1-v4 (v5 doesn't even exist that time,n v1 n v2 only got internet access in late 2004).user counts averaging 1000+ users at any time given.

my first favourite mirc channel?its gotta be #bingseng.what is #bingseng?if utpchat is a breathing animal,bingseng is its heart.bingseng is among the first channel that promotes the usage of utp network as a sharing medium.its main attraction?mp3 files.some of us might still remembr @find bla3,dir,ls,/ctcp bla3 and many more mirc commands to grab files from fservs.

That was a long long time ago.from this filesharing activities,people learn to socialize and form interest groups in private channels.prominent examples are #helloproject,#linux,#unipet etc.

And then,there's GV.

What is GV?GrapeVine.utp forum.much like our current k5.but with stricter mods+hardcore writers who love to flame one another.and can be accessed throughout utp.there,I only love reading.I don't post much,partly because of the fear of being ridiculed by mods n other regular writers over there.

Students living in that era will remember the otais back then.effi,snubby,genjo,mangifera,yayi n a few others.

I wasn't popular in both services.just because im still young at that time compared to seasoned seniors.and im not interested in this politics.im happy as long as I can get my latest mp3s and vclips.

And then something happened.utp network was sliced into pieces.each village with their own network.new ip schemes introduced.they used to be 160.xxx.xxx.xxx.now we r separated.the first service to suffer was grapevine.n then mirc.

The server was located in v3/v4 but most of the regular GV writers live in v5.and during the early separation process,mirc network only limited to each village.n then there was novell login.do u still remember your novell login id?

I still do.

So what happened after that?the opers tried to restore connectivity between villages by connecting village servers to one another by using proxies.but situation changed rapidly.most juniors never bothered about mirc n gv.year fter year,it becomes worsened.then there came kampung5.originally intended as temporary gv replacement,k5 popularity grows as it gained attention from ex gv users in v5.most of gv users are disappointed with the move of gv to outside server.the slow page loading of gv makes k5 a superior choice bcos of its location in V5.

And then there is this server called dc++.started by ahca@helloproject,I was one of the experimental team for the dchub server.more or less,the popularity of dc++ hub grows each day as it follows the web2.0 definition.what is web2.0?traditional internet are passive internet whereby users login, get something and then logout.web2.0 extends more than that.it lets users participate,contribute,share and do much more with the internet.

This is what dc++ is for.participation from the users,compared to trditional filesharing under mIRC,makes dc++ a better choice for filesharers.

Although the importance of mirc decreases day by day,the legacy still continues.we can say that less than 300 active users of mirc still exists but its presence is still needed,as long as the people are there

I still hope that despite the tremendous pressure from network condition of utp,itms and the users themselves, that 10 years from now,I still can see utpchat.net and dc++ is still here in utp,and I can say proudly that im part of it long ago.

So what does the future has to offer to the new generation of utp students?the answer really lies in the hands of the students themselves.they can choose to support the communication method as it is right now or dump it for something new and fresh.I just don't want to see the so-called modern messengers like gtalk/ym/msn replace the functionality of mirc networks.yes,indeed mirc has been around in decades,but its not outdated at all.I hope that all the juniors would understand this and start to embrace the mirc once again and bring back the golden era of utp network.

liwat? liwat? liwat? gay kah malaysia?

ini pandangan saya. sy rasa kita semua patut ambil. saya dapati dari ustaz sobri arshad.

mula mula sekali, sy nak lontarkan satu soalan. tahukah kita apa hukum had yg dikenakan kepada pesalah liwat? sy tau, semua setuju hukuman utk penzina bujang 100x sebat, dah kawin rejam smpi mati.

tp liwat? hukumnya mati jugak. bukan sahaja kepada penjolok, malah yg dijoloki jugak kena bunuh. kenapa? ini merosak institusi kekeluargaan. merosak institusi perkahwinan. menghalalkan hubungan sejenis. dalam islam, perlu tegas, bahawa haram hukumnya buat benda2 mcm ni.

dan saiful bukhari pulak buat tuduhan anwar dah meliwat beliau. ini sgt2 berbahaya. seolah2 dia sendiri menempah maut dalam hukum islam. sebab itu berat sgt kes ini.

kedua. bersumpah atas nama allah. bersumpah allah akan laknat diri sekiranya sumpah itu dilanggari. 3x sumpah mengaku tidak bersalah atas pertuduhan. sunat pulak hakim yg menjadi saksi sumpah tu menepuk mulut yg bersumpah dan memperingati bahawa sumpah selepas itu adalah melaknati diri sendiri. selepas itu barulah sumpah melaknat diri diri kalau sumpah itu tidak betul.

setakat bersumpah wallahi waillahi watallahi tu takleh pakai. tapi takde sapa berani tegur pak najib cara nak bersumpah yg betul. begitu jugak hisamudin hussin.

ketiga. apa pendekatan kita dalam hal ini? sebagai seorang muslim mukmin, bek la kita jauhkan diri dari cerita hal2 yg sangat2 aib ini. ini cerita dalam kelambu anwar, dalam kelambu saiful. ntah betul tidak wallahualam. takpayah la bercerita bergendangan merata2 sedangkan faktanya kita tidak tahu apa2.

sebab apa perlu kita ambik pendekatan diam? sekarang ni berlaku krisis kepercayaan yang sangat dalam di kalangan rakyat Malaysia. penyokong anwar di satu pihak tidak mempercayai lagi pihak polis yg menjalankan siasatan. hatta hakim yang menegakkan keadilan pon boleh dibengkokkan dengan suapan dua tiga kupang.

paklah pun makin lama makin dihakis kepercayaan utk memerintah. ramai mempertikaikan wujudnya YB rembau dalam projek2 kerajaan, termasuk penyokong2 setia kerajaan sendiri. najib pulak dgn kes altantuya.

penyokong kerajaan pula tidak lagi percaya kepada anwar dgn tuduhan liwatnya. juga kes anwar menerima syarat IMF yg digembar-gemburkan selama ini. mereka juga melihat pakatan rakyat bersifat semtara dan tidak kukuh utk membentuk kerajaan persekutuan.

ultra nasionalis melayu juga hilang kepercayaan terhadap keupayaan PKR meneutralkan tuntutan DAP yg dilihat mereka merugikan melayu. bukan bumiputra mula melihat MIC MCA Gerakan sebagai kuli dan balaci UMNO walaupun cuba diyakinkan oleh pimpinan tertinggi mereka.

PAS? sebagai pembangkang yg mempunyai plg sedikit kerusi dalam dewan tentunya merasa mereka disisihkan dalam Pakatan Rakyat.

kesimpulannya? kita kena akui, politik malaysia sedang tidak stabil. dan kita sebenarnya patut memberi laluan kepada pakatan rakyat utk pilihanraya seterusnya. bukan sy menykong mereka, tetapi kita perlu kepada sistem biparty yg diamalkan samada di The Palace of Westminster di UK ataupun kongres US.ini menjamin rakyat mendapat yang terbaik utk mereka.
